COMMODUS, (177-192 A.D.), copper As, issued 192 A.D., Rome Mint, 9.31 grams, RIC 644, BMC 725 (Pl.111,6), C.193, Obv. Head to r. of Commodus in lion skin, around L AEL AVREL COM[M AVG P FEL], Rev. HER CVL/ROM AN/AV GV/S [C]; divided by a club upright all in a wreath. Nearly very fine but weak in places, rare, (691).
Commodus sought on the reverse of this coin to compare himself with Hercules.
