GRIMWADE'S 'OLD BILL' POTTERY TOBACCO JAR, base marked 'A Souvenir of the Great War' and dates of war commencement, armistice and peace signing, design features comical war scenes, one with caption, 'Dear - At present we are staying at a farm' and shows a soldier sitting amidst a bombed out building in a battlefield, another shows two soldiers in a fox hole, shells bursting around and the caption, 'Well, if you knows of a better 'ole, go to it', with copper and brass fitting to lid so it will not open accidentally. Very fine.
