GROUP OF FOUR: Brassey Field Firing & Marching Competition Medals, type 1 with original handmade suspender, 1896 won by '2nd Batt. Inf. B'gde', named to 'Pte. T.S.Payne'; and 1897 won by '2nd Battn I.B.', named to 'Pte. T.S.Payne'; and second type with scroll suspender, 1899 won by '2nd Batt. Inf. B'gde', named to 'Pte. T.S.Payne'; and 1901 won by '2nd Batt. Inf. B'gde', named to 'Pte. T.S.Payne, C Coy'. Engraved. Display mounted on board using double sided tape, very fine.
Pte Payne, 2nd Bn Vic Infy Bde, is the only known competitor to win four Brassey Medals.
