PAIR: Egypt Medal 1882-89 (undated reverse), - clasp - Suakin 1885; Khedive's Star 1884-86. 515, Pte C. Lemaire, N.S.W. Infy on first medal, second medal unnamed. Named medal engraved. Very fine.

Together with Lord Mayor of Sydney's Soudan Medal, 1885, in silver (28mm) by E(van) Jones (C.1885/1), unnamed and also Welcome Return N.S.W. Contingent silver medal, undated, in silver (22mm) (C.G/1).

Charles Lemaire, photographer (recorded also as Saxophone player and served in Band), age 23; Enl.26Feb1885; Emb.03Mar1885; RTA 23Jun1885.

It is not confirmed but this is probably Charles Julius Lemaire who was a photographer of the London and Paris Photographic Studio when it operated from 616 George Street, Brickfield Hill, Sydney, NSW. His name is featured as photographer on many historic photos in museum and library collections.
