PAIR: Korea Medal 1950-53; United Nations Korea Medal 1950-53. 2/10038 F.W. Hurley. Both medals impressed. Display court mounted, very fine - extremely fine.
Frederick William Hurley, born 13May1927 at Poplar, London, England; served in Korea 01Apr1952 - 24Mar1953; he served with 1RAR during its first tour of duty in Korea. During this tour the unit was in two major operations, Operation Blaze 02Jul1952 when A Coy launched an attack on Hill 227 and Operation Fauna on 10Dec1952 when B Coy launched a raid to capture a prisoner to interrogate, to identify enemy units and halt the progress of the Chinese bunkers. Frederick Hurley was supposedly wounded during his tour but this has not been confirmed.
