MACEDON, Kingdom of, Philip III, (323-317 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.038 grams), Babylon mint, issued c.323-317 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left wheel over **PU* monogram, below throne monogram **PUB*, [FILIPPOU]* to right, **BASILEWS* in exergue, (cf.S.6748, Price P189, BMC P189a-b, M.P29, Demanhur Hoard 4595-4600); another similar but Alexander III, drachm, Sardes mint, (3.990 grams), rev. with TI to left, bee below, (S.6730, Price 2629, BMC 2629a-b, M.522).
