GROUP OF FIVE: Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Member) (Military) (MBE) type 1; India General Service Medal 1854-95, - two clasps - Burma 1885-7, Burma 1887-89; China War Medal 1900; Delhi Durbar Medal in silver 1911; British Red Cross Society War Service Medal 1914-1918. The first and last two medals unnamed as issued, Lt. C.M.Ducat 1st Bombay Lancers on second medal, Bt. Ltt. Coll. C.M.Ducat. 34th Poona Horse on third medal. The second medal impressed, the third medal engraved. Very fine.

MBE: unconfirmed.

MID: with China Expeditionary Force 1900-02. This was reported in a biography but unconfirmed.

Charles Merewether Ducat, born 05Sep1860 in India; passed out of Staff College; 2Lt 2Jan1881, Lt 01Jul1881, Capt 22Jan1892, Major 22Jan1901, Brevet Lt Col 01Jan1903; Retired 21Feb1913; Died 16Mar1934 at Bournemouth, Dorset, England. Lt Col Ducat served as Military Attache to the British Legation in Peking 1902-05. He had a high reputation for intelligence work in the Japanese and Korean areas.
