A.Hartnup 33. Batt. R.A. on first medal, 277368 Cpl. A.Hartnup 40th:A.A.Bty on second medal, 97997 Gr. A.Hartnup No 5, M.B.R.A. on third medal, 97997 Cpl. A.Hartnup 7/Mtn. Bty. R.A. on fourth medal, 2368 Sgt. A.Hartnup R.A. on fifth medal, SR-2368 Gnr. A.Hartnup R.A. on sixth and seventh medals. All medals impressed, the first medal renamed. Contact marks, otherwise fine - very fine.

Alfred Hartnup, labourer, born 1875 at Gravesend, Kent, England; Enl.03Jul1893 in Royal Artillery; to Gibraltar 13Dec1893; to Malta 29Oct1896; to India 23Sep1898; to 5th Mountain Battery 01Jun1903; third Good Conduct Badge 03Jul1905; to UK 16Dec1905; Disch.18Dec1905 at Gosport; Ops in France and Flanders from 01Nov1915 with Royal Garrison Art, probably mobilized; Disch.19Feb1919; no record of MM or MSM and no dossier found when researching thus indicating it was destroyed during WWII bombing raids. These awards also not located in London Gazette. Note that Hartnup's wife Alice Jane Hartnup resided at Manners Street, Tenterfield, NSW (c1934) and Miles Street, Tenterfield, NSW (c1949).
