TRIO FOR KITE BALLOON SERVICE: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Belgium Croix de Guerre WWI. 23843. Sgt. G. Chattington. R.A.F. on first two medals, last medal unnamed as issued. Both named medals impressed. Display court mounted, nearly extremely fine and a rare award for Kite Balloon service.

Together with RFC anodised bronze hat badge; Croix de Guerre award certificate dated 23 June 1919 to No.23843 George Chattington - No.19 Kite Balloon Sect - RFC, this torn but restored by gluing to backing board.

C de G: Supplement to LG 15/4/1918, p4529, for distinguished services rendered during the course of the campaign (Belgium).

George Chattington, sewerage foreman, age 24; Enl.25Feb1916 to RFC; to Cpl 01Mar1917; to Sgt 01Apr1917; to RAF 01Apr1918 as Sgt Mech; to RAF General Reserve 25May1919.
