PALESTINE, Athenian derivative silver obol, (0.578 grams), issue c.4th century -332 B.C., obv. plain circular globule representing head of Athena to right wearing ivy crested helmet, eye in profile, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, olive twig and crescent behind, to right traces of degraded legend **A[QE], all in incuse square, (cf.S.2541, close reverse die Meshorer/Qedar 'Samarian Coinage [1999] No.301). Toned, off centred obverse, fine/good very fine and very rare.

Ex Nablus 1968 hoard (ICGH 1504).
