C. VIBIUS VARUS, (42 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.798 grams), obv. head of Bacchus, wearing wreath of ivy and grapes to right, rev. C. VIBIVS in exergue, [VA]RVS to right, panther springing to left, towards garland altar, with thyrsus and mask, (S.496, Cr.494/36, Syd.1138, B.Vibia 24). Attractive dark patina, off centred reverse, good very fine and very scarce.
