CLAUDIUS AND AGRIPPINA JUNIOR (AS JOINT RULERS), (A.D. 49-54), silver denarius, (3.364 grams), issued 51, Lugdunum mint, obv. TI CLAVD CAESAR AVG GERM P M TRIB POT P P, laureate head to right, rev. AGRIPPINAE AVGVSTAE around, draped bust of Agrippina Junior to right, wreathed with corn ears, (S.1886 [£900 VF], RIC 81, RSC 4). Good fine/nearly very fine and very rare.

Claudius married his niece Agrippina as his fourth wife in A.D. 49. Later she was elevated to the rank of Augusta and a few coins were struck in the joint names of the emperor and empress.
