HADRIAN, (A.D. 117-138), silver denarius, issued 127, Rome mint, (3.110 grams), obv. laureate head to right of Hadrian, drapery on left shoulder, around HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, rev. COS III around, Victory standing to right with palm, (S.3480, RIC 182, BMC 422, RSC 358). Toned, nearly extremely fine, a rare variant.

Ex Patrick Cooper Collection with his ticket and previously from B.A. Seaby (London), in 1951, (list 395 No.B111). The Reka Devnia hoard of 88,044 silver coins contained 5892 coins of Hadrian, it contained 48 coins of this type.
