CANADA, Boy Scouts King's Troop, Paris 1913, in bronze (38mm) with loop suspension, obverse, boy scout facing and saluting between letters B and P (Baden Powell), reverse, wreath and inscription, 'Presented/To/J.H.Storr.' Good very fine and scarce.

Winners of the year's Dominion scouting competition were granted the title of the King's Troop of Canada. In 1913 the winners were the Paris Troop from the town of Paris, Ontario. The troop, including officers, comprised approximately 31 persons.

In The Register, Adelaide newspaper, Tuesday 29 May 1923 it was reported as follows,

'The manager of the team Tasmanian soccer team is Mr.J.H.Storr, who at one time was well known in Adelaide. Mr. Storr is Chairman of the Tasmanian Association, and has done a great amount of work in fostering the round-ball game in Tasmania, having twice represented the Island State in conference of the Commonwealth Association at Melbourne. Since leaving Adelaide some years back, Mr. Storr has had a varied experience in football management. After spending some months in the various States of Australia, he went to New Zealand, where he stayed four years, afterwards migrating to Canada and the United States. He was captain of Harvard and Yale University teams in America. Returning to Australia, Mr. Storr made his home in Tasmania, where he is now well established in business. He will no doubt be glad to see old Adelaide friends.'

The medal on offer was discovered in Tasmania and since Mr J H Shorr referred to in the article above was in Canada prior to 1923 and later migrated to Tasmania it seems likely that he is the recipient of the medal in this lot, perhaps as one of the adult officers of the troop.
