FAUSTINA JUNIOR, wife of Marcus Aurelius, (died A.D.175), silver denarius, (3.270 grams), issued 161-175, Rome mint, obv. draped bust to right of Faustina, around FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, rev. Juno veiled standing facing head to left, holding short torch and sceptre, peacock at feet, around IVNO REGINAE, (S.5256, BMC 120, RIC 696, RSC 139). Lightly toned, minor edge crack, round and nearly extremely fine.

Ex Patrick Cooper Collection with his ticket, bought from Vecchi in July 1983.
