SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 200, (3.380 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around SEVERVS AVG PART MAX, rev. around VIRT AVGG, Virtus or Roma resting left hand on shield, holding Victory and spear, (S.6387, RIC 171a, RSC 761). Good very fine and scarce.

In the Reka Denvia Hoard of 81,044 coins of which there were 7256 Septimius Severuas only 58 examples were noted for this variety.
