SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), silver denarius, Emesa mint, issued A.D. 194, (3.226 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around IMP CAE [L SEP SEV] PERT AVG COS II, rev. around FORTVN REDVC, Fortuna seated left, holding rudder and cornucopiae, (S.6277, RIC 379, RSC 173a). Short on obverse flan, otherwise very fine and very scarce.
Ex Marc Melcher Collection. 9 examples in Reka Devnia Hoard, which contained 7256 Septimius Severus denarii.
