SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), silver denarius, Emesa mint, issued A.D. 194, (2.902 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II, rev. around LIBER A AVG, Liberalitas standing half left, holding abacus and cornucopiae, (S.6277, RIC 399, RSC 283). Good very fine and very scarce.
Ex Marc Melcher Collection. 7 examples in Reka Devnia Hoard, which contained 7256 Septimius Severus denarii.
