ATTICA, Athens, (168-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.33 g), issued 128-7 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 96-95 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, within dotted border, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, **D* on amphora, legend across **A QE, to left and right across APO **POS/ MNA /SA**GO* /**APOL*, trace of **DH* below, winged Agon at right below, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, cf.Thompson 1000). Toned, corroded mostly at base on the reverse, otherwise about fine - very fine and rare.
