ELAGABALUS, (A.D. 218-222), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 218-222, (26.4 grams), obv. laureate bust of Elagabalus draped and cuirassed to right, around IMP CAES M AVR ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, rev. around ADVENTVS AVGVSTI, Elagabalus on horseback to left, raising r. hand and holding sceptre, (S.-, RIC 340, C.6). Brown tone, fine and rare.

Ex Baldwin's London, October 1954 (30/-) and Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III Sale, New York, December 1999 (lot 1719 part) with his ticket.
