MAXIMUS CAESAR, (A.D. 235-238), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 236-8, (3.08 g), obv. bare head of Maximus to right, around IVL VERVS MAXIMVS CAES, rev. around PIETAS AVG, sacrificial implements, (S.8404, RIC 1, RSC 1). Attractively toned, nearly extremely fine and very scarce.

Ex D.J.Foster Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 48 (lot 3130).
