AEMILIAN, (A.D. 253), base silver antoninianus, Rome mint, issued 253, (3.20 g), obv. Aemilian radiate bust to right, around IMP AEMILIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. MARTI PROPVGT, Mars standing to left, leaning on shield and holding reversed spear, (S.9837, RIC 6, RSC 25). Toned, good very fine and rare.
Ex D.J.Foster Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 45 (lot 1951) and from the Richard A. Williams Collection, previously from Spink Australia Sale 34 (lot 2027).
