GREAT BRITAIN, Game Duty Certificate D, for a person not being a Game-keeper, for the year 1825 for the Division of Gore in the County of Middlesex, issued to The Rev William Drury residing in the Parish of Harrow on the Hill in the said County, signed by William S. Tootell, Clerk to the Commissioner for Taxes; also Appointment Document of George III, with one pound ten shillings duty stamp affixed, all details faded to near invisible. Good very fine; good. (2)
William James Joseph Drury, born 1791 and baptised at Harrow, Middlesex was educated at Trinity College, Oxford (MA). In 1823 he was listed as a member of the Horticultural Society of London. He was Chaplain to King Leopold of Belgium 1829-65 and to the English congregation in Brussels 1829-78. Two of his three sons, Edward Robert Drury (1832-96) and Albert Victor Drury (1837-1907), were both born in Brussels and both immigrated to Queensland. Edward arrived in 1852 and was the first general manager of the Queensland National Bank. His brother Albert arrived in 1862 and was a prominent figure in the Executive Council of Queensland.
