INDIA, telegraphic royal wedding invitation, Gondal Railway official licensed telegraphed message form, completed by typed blue ink, 'Urgent' to 'His Highness Maharaja Saheb of Gondal Taj Mahal Bombay', and the message reads, 'His Highness Ratlam invites Your Highness to wedding of his Yuvraj on fifteenth January 1947 at Bombay Orchha House Carmichael Road Kindly do needful Dewan' signed by sender with address, 'Ag. Dewan, Gondal State'; also photocopy of letter dated 15.5.47 and marked received 22.5.47, 'Dear Sister..' signed Bapa. The first with a few penned details at top and pin and spike holes, otherwise very fine and scarce, the second with foxing and fine. (2)
Saijan Singh Bahadur, a British Indian Army officer, was first Maharaja of Ratlam State. He also served as Aide-de-camp to King George V and Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) and an extra ADC to George VI until 1947.
