John Percival Lewis, contractor, age 30, born at Yorktown, Sth Aust; Enl.05Oct1914 at Guildford, West Aust; Emb.08Feb1915; to Gallipoli 16May1915; KIA 07Aug1915 at Walker's Ridge - Board of Enquiry was held at Russells Top, Gallipoli on 8th Aug into those missing and found that all KIA during assault on Turkish trenches on the Nek, Anzac, on morning of 7.8.15 resulting in loss of 37 officers, NCOs and men of the 10 LHR - personal observation with periscope immediately after assault noted that no single individual of 10th Regt reached the Turkish trenches and subsequent to assault the enemy were seen deliberately firing on the wounded. Commemorated at the Lone Pine Memorial.
