COMMODUS, issue in honour of Marcus Aurelius, (A.D. 180-192), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 180, (2.91 g), obv. bare head of Marcus Aurelius to right, around DIVVS M ANTONINVS PIVS, rev. around CONSECRATIO, eagle standing left on globe head right, (S.5974, RIC 273 [Commodus], RSC 91 [Aurelius], BMC 20). Slightly porous surface from cleaning, extremely fine and rare.
