ISAAC II ANGELUS, first reign, 1185-1195, billon aspron trachy 27mm, (4,44 g), Constantinople mint, obv. The Theotokos (Virgin Mary) enthroned facing with stars in left and right panels, monogram MP **Q*V either side of nimbus, rev. Emperor standing facing, holding cruciform scepter and akakia, manus Dei to upper right, to left I/CAA/KI/[O]C, (S.2003, Hendy Pl. 21, 2; DOC 3e.6). Spot of non active green on reverse, otherwise good very fine, rare in this condition, unusually heavy example.
