CHINA, Honan Province, under Empire, general issue, pattern specimen or trial strike of a twenty cash CD1909 issue, struck on large extended flan with sharp edge (27.18g), (KM.Pn3; CCC537; MCCC HON 33). Good very fine and extremely rare.

This previously unknown example was discovered in a collection formed in New Zealand in the 1930's and was first offered in our Sale 105 (lot 3288) with an estimate of $200. Another example was sold in the Baldwin/Ma Auction, 21 August 2014 (The Norman Jacobs and Ake Linden Collection that realised $60,000).
