ITALY, Venice, Levantine imitation of Alvise Mocenigo (1570-1577), gold ducat or zecchino, (3.16 g), obv. DUX ALOY MOCEN S.M.VENET, doge kneeling before St Mark, both holding flag, rev. SIT T XPE DAT Q TV REGIS ISTE DUCAT, Christ in mandorla, surrounded by sixteen (?) stars (cf.Ives, NN&M 128, Pl.XIII; Pao. 2, [p.68]). Very fine, crude style and rare.
