ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE (OBE) (CIVIL) 1ST TYPE, breast badge, in Garrard & Co Ltd case of issue. Extremely fine.

Ralph Abercrombie (1811-1957), public servant, Director of Naval Accounts and Finance and civil member of the Naval Board, born at Mt Duneed, Vic, on 19 July 1881, son of Andrew Thomson Abercrombie. He joined the Naval Department in 1911 from the Victorian State Treasury. On 3 June 1935 he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his services as Director of Navy accounts.

Together with single page of biographical details and his father Andrew Abercrombie's warrant as Second Lieutenant (Temporary) Australian Machine Gun Corps.
