First group display court mounted, extremely fine - uncirculated, second group very fine.
Includes photo of F/O Campbell's grave and another photo of graveyard.
Alexander Craven Campbell, bank clerk and associate director of J.Craven & Co Ltd, Dept Store, Adelaide, Sth Aust, born 21Jun1922 at Adelaide, Sth Aust, the son of J.R.Campbell OBE who served in WWI; Enl.03Feb1941 at Adelaide, Sth Aust, with previous service of 8 months with AAMC 4th MD Cadets; KIA 17Sep1942; buried at Municipal Cemetery, Des Bruyeres St Omer, France.
Mollie Carlyn Campbell, born 01Oct1925 at Adelaide, Sth Aust; Enl.25Oct1943 at Adelaide, Sth Aust; Disch.06Jan1946 as Aircraftwoman ex HQs North Eastern Area.
Ministry of Defence records show that AUS 407890 F/O A.C.Campbell was the pilot of Halifax II No.R9365 of 76 Squadron which crashed at Rubrouck, Nord on 17 September 1942 after a bombing raid on Essen. The Halifax was sent down out of control after being attacked by a night-fighter whilst over the Pas de Calais and the entire crew of seven was killed. The full crew was:- AUS 407890 F/O A.C.Campbell - Pilot; 128541 Sgt S.G.White - Flight Engineer; 1194265 Sgt S.A.Witchell - Observer; 968122 F/Sgt W.N.Geddie - Wireless Operator/Air Gunner; 1309498 F/Sgt J.R.Runnicles - Wireless Operator/Air Gunner; AUS 407303 F/Sgt M.J.Standley - Air Gunner; 755366 F/Sgt A.Moffat - Air Gunner.
