CHURCHILL MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL, 1965, (22ct; 47.87g; 38mm), by Spink & Son, obverse, facing bust of Churchill in high relief wearing a bow tie and sharply styled jacket and on a shelf behind him are a number of books and a pot of artist's brushes, in the exergue, 'Winston Churchill/1874 - 1965', at the lower left of the bust is the engraver's signature, Kovacs, reverse, an engraving taken from a David Low cartoon, first published in the London Evening Standard in 1940, shows a British soldier at the seaside shaking his fist at Luftwaffe bombers overhead, captioned in the exergue, "Very Well, Alone", also in the exergue, at left, Low Des, and at right, Spink Fec, the edge is hallmarked and numbered 112. Hairlines, otherwise extremely fine.
