NETHERLANDS, Holland, William VI of Bavaria, (1404-17) gold ecu d'or au chaise, (3.65 g), obv. GVILLELM : DVX x / x COM x / x hOLAND : / : ZEL, Duke seated facing on Gothic throne, a sword in his right hand and a shield with quartered arms of Bavaria-Holland supported by his left, all within a tressure of arches with trefoils in the spandrels, rev. + XPC : VINCIT : XPC : REGNAT : XPC : INPERAT, cross fleur‚e in quadrilobe with leaves on cusps and trefoils in spandrels, (Fr-112, Delm-731). A pleasing example of this imitative issue despite typical striking weakness in places, very fine and rare.
