THRACE, Hadrianopolis, Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), AE 25, (7.95 g), obv. radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust to right of Gordian III around AVT K MAN T **GORDIANO*C AV, rev. city gate with open door, battlemented tower to left and right each with conical roof, around **ADRIANOPOLEITWN*, (S.3652, Varbanov 3754, BMC 44, Mouschov 2701). Very fine and rare.

An important and interesting architectural view of the city gate.
