ANTONINUS PIUS, (A.D. 138-161), posthumous issue, silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 162, (2.65 g), obv. DIVVS ANTONINVS, bare head, to right of Antoninus Pius, rev. CONSECRATIO around, pyramidal crematorium of four storeys, garlanded base, surmounted by emperor in quadriga, (cf.S.5193, RIC 436, RSC 164). Lightly toned with golden highlights, extremely fine and very scarce.
