MARCUS AURELIUS, (161-180 A.D.), AE Dupondius, 25-26mm, (11.42g) issued A.D. Dec 162 - Autumn 163, obv. IMP CAES M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG P M, radiate head of Marcus Aurelius to right, rev. [SALVTI AV]GVSTOR] TR P XVII, S - C across flan, Salus, draped, standing front, head left, feeding out of patera in right hand snake coiled round altar and holding sceptre, vertical, in left hand, in exergue, COS III, (cf.S.5068, BMCRE IV p. 551, 1043 and pl. 75.2; C. 568; RIC III p. 280, 846). Off centred reverse, otherwise very fine and scarce.
