CONSTANTINE I, (307-337 A.D.), AE centenionalis (2.89 g), Lugdunum (Lyon) mint, struck 323-324 A.D., obv. Laureate head right of Constantine I, around CONSTAN TINVS AVG, rev. Victory advancing right, holding trophy and palm, a bound captive seated right before, around SARMATIA DEVICTA, C-/PLG crescent in exergue, (S.16282, RIC VII 214). Extremely fine with olive patina.

Ex Decades Collection coming from the Paul McIlroy Collection, CNG esale 66, June 11, 2003 (lot 137) and previously from the Nether Compton Hoard.

This hoard was found in Nether Compton in Dorset in 1989. It contained 22,670 coins of the Constantinian period. It was examined but not published, it was eventually dispersed in trade around 1994
