SHARE CERTIFICATE TO HISTORIC FIGURE, Pani-Ilota Limited, one hundred shares, 22 July 1910, named in print to Samuel A. Pethebridge, Melbourne, printed diagonally in red, 'Fully Paid Up', signed on back, 'S.A.Pethebridge'. Pin hole at top left corner, toning to right edge, otherwise very fine.

Sir Samuel Augustus Pethebridge KCMG was in command of Tropical Force that relieved the AN&MEF during WWI and in January 1914 he was administrator of Rabaul in occupied German New Guinea. See his full history in the Australian Dictionary of Biography.
