SIR JOSEPH BANKS, a one page letter of compliments penned by Thomas Coutts, The Strand (London), 1st June 1787 to Sir Joseph Banks, requesting a viewing of Sir Wm. Petty's model ship at The Royal Society. With notes in pencil at top, very fine.
Thomas Coutts (1735-1822), Banker. Founder and 1778 sole partner of the London banking firm, Coutts & Co.
Sold together with a book plate portrait of Coutts.
