USA, WELLS FARGO & CO, San Francisco, California, Second of Exchange No.13906 to the Union Bank of London, dated Aug 13, 1868, for Twenty five pounds sterling payable on demand to Thomas Burbery (sic) (Burberry), affixed US Internal Revenue two cents stamp; another, No.870 to Wells Fargo and Company, London, dated Nov 1st, 1869, for Eight pounds sterling payable on demand to Thomas Burbery (sic) (Burberry), affixed US Internal Revenue two cents stamp and California four cents State Revenue stamp as well as Foreign Bill drawn out of the United Kingdom Two pence duty stamp. Edge splits and small edge paper loss, otherwise fine - very fine. (2)

Thomas Burberry (27 August 1835 - 4 April 1926) was the founder in 1856 of Burberry, one of the United Kingdom's largest branded clothing businesses. He is also known as the inventor of gabardine.
