PAIR: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899 (type 3 reverse), - three clasps - Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal; King's South Africa Medal 1902, - two clasps - South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902. 5098, Dr J Johnson, 2nd Batt: 5th North:Fus: Both medals engraved, unofficially, the QSA renamed. Hairlines and toned, otherwise very fine.

On the unit QSA medal rolls for 1901 and 1903, 5098 Dr J Johnson is shown as invalided to England and with an entitlement to the clasps Cape Colony and Orange Free State and South Africa 1901 only. He is shown as having no entitlement to the KSA.
