GEORGE V, Royal Mint, London, uniface patterns for a modified obverse for the florin and shilling of the Dominions and Colonies, by Sir E.B.Mackennal. The florin (11.06g) design with minor modification was adopted for the Canberra Commemorative of 1927. The shilling (5.47g) design was never adopted. The only other pair known is in the Royal Mint Collection in Wales. Sold together with a handwritten letter dated 1926 by Sir Robert Johnston to Mackennal concerning the modified portrait of the King, also a letter from Dr Colin Mackennal Kraay to Mr Baldwin (uncle Fred). Toned, uncirculated and excessively rare. (2)

Ex Sir E.B.Mackennal, Colin M.Kraay, A.H.F.Baldwin, Spink Australia Sale 1 (October 1977), Sale 6 (November 1981) and Sale 24 (lot 1160) (March 1988) for the florin, the shilling, Sale 17 and Sale 24 (lot 1160).
