FAUSTINA SENIOR, wife of Antoninus Pius, (died 141 A.D.), sestertius AE 28-30mm; (20.78 g), issued after AD 141. obv. DIVA FAV STINA Draped bust of Faustina I to right, hair elaborately waved and piled in bun on top of head, rev. AETER-NITAS Aeternitas, draped, seated left on throne, holding phoenix on globe on right hand and transverse sceptre in left; in exergue S C, (S.4606. BMCRE IV p. 238, 1484; C. 15var [S C in field]; RIC III p. 166, 1156var [S C in field]). Well centred, extremely fine and very rare.
