SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochos VIII, (121-96 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.564 grams), Ake Ptolemais mint, first reign, undated coinage, issued 115-113 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochos VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius standing to left, holding star and sceptre with crescent above, on right **BASILEOS and **ANTIOCOU and to left **EPI FANOUS, to left **DR* monogram, plain exergue, (cf.S.7143, SNG Israel I (Spaer) 2592, Newell LSM 35, BMC 13, ACNAC Houghton 813). Minor flaw on cheek, otherwise nearly extremely fine and a rare mint.
