11TH ANNUAL AUSTRALIAN Y.M.C.A. Tournaments, Newcastle, 1924, award medal in bronze (64mm) (C.1924/12), by Angus & Coote, reverse inscribed, 'J.B.Sutcliffe,/Chess'. Scuffing on reverse, otherwise extremely fine/very fine.

This was the first Australian Annual YMCA Tournament to be held outside a capital city. The previous tournament was held at Sydney in 1922, due to bad circumstances none was held in 1923. The delegates to the tournament were representing from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Ballarat and Newcastle and camped at Newcastle Showground. The tournament started on Saturday 19 April 1924 and finished on the following Friday. J.B.Sutcliffe was a representative from Melbourne.
