GEELONG INDUSTRIAL & JUVENILE EXHIBITION, 1879-80, award medal in silver (35mm) by Altmann, reverse inscribed, 'Vict. Woollen Man Co/Geelong/Shawls'. Good very fine.
The Victorian Woollen Manufacturing Company was located in large premises on the northern bank of the Barwon River at Geelong. At the exhibition the company displayed 14 varieties of shawls, 18 varieties of tweeds, military cloth of 2 colours, 4 or 5 worsted coatings and 3 varieties of flannels.
