THRACE, Island off Thrace, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.94 g), obv. large head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **HRAKLEOUS*, to left **SWTHROS, below **FASIWN, MH monogram to left, (cf.S.1759, SNG Cop. 1040-1045). Good metal, well centred, good very fine.
Ex Stephen Cole, Hobart, (Salamanca Rare Coins), May 4, 2006, who bought it in Noble Numismatics Sale 76 (lot 3239) and listed previously in Sale 63 (3473).
