SYRIA, Coele-Syria, Chalkis ad Libanon, Augustus, (issued 27-26 B.C.), AE 20 (7.04 g), issued with Zenodorus, tetrarch and archereus, obv. traces only ZHNO**D*OROY TETPAPXOY KAI APXHPE**W*S, bare head of Zenodorus left, rev. bare head of Augustus right, L Z**P* NE KAI in left and right fields, (S.5899, Sear Imperators 929 footnote, RPC I 4775, BMC 7, SNG Cop.417, Oxford AMC 867). Soil patina, very fine portraits but with weak legends, rare.

Ex Dr. Adrian Carr Collection and purchased from Harlan J. Berk, Ltd., Mail bid sale No.107 (lot 684) in 2002.
A later issue that bears the Seleucid date (2)86 = 27/26 BC. RPC records only 7 specimens of this type.
