C. VIBIUS C.F.C.N. Pansa Caetronianus, (48 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.91 g), obv. Mask of Pan, pedum behind PANSA below, rev. Jupiter Axurus seated to left, C.VIBIVS C.F.C.N. behind and IOVIS, AXVR before, (S.420, Cr.449/1b, Sear Imperators 20, Syd.948, B.Vibia 19). Very fine/good very fine and very scarce.

Ex Dr. Adrian Carr Collection and purchased from Axis Mundi, Santa Fe, NM, USA with their ticket.
The representation of the youthful Jupiter Axurus suggests that the Vibia gens originally dwelt at Axur (Tarracina). There was a temple dedicated to the young Jupiter in that town.
