MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.55 g), Kolophon mint, issued c.323-319 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, spear head in right field, star to left, A under throne, **ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 1759,cf. BMC 1751, M.314, SNG Cop. 950). Small on flan, otherwise very fine or better and a scarce control mark.
